112 Education Foundation Mission Statement: To enrich and enhance educational opportunities for all children in North Shore School District 112

 

112 Education Foundation Overarching Objectives:  To support the NSSD 112 strategic goals that state:

  • Every student will achieve personal academic excellence by demonstrating growth as measured by NSSD 112 standards and assessments
  • Every child will understand and consistently demonstrate the character attributes of respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, caring, fairness and citizenship at school and in the community

 

112 Education Foundation Overarching Strategy: To align 112 Education Foundation priorities and programming with NSSD 112 strategic plan adopted in June 2010.  The District’s seven strategic thrusts are listed below:

  1. Align curriculum and develop Power Standards and student assessments in all curricular areas.
  2. Ensure educators have the support necessary to utilize effective instructional strategies and interventions to inspire each student to grow to academic excellence.
  3. Develop and implement plans to ensure the sustainability of the district’s financial and human resources and their equitable distribution.
  4. Develop and implement plans to ensure facilities and technology infrastructure to achieve district mission and objectives.
  5. Develop a plan to unify community by improving understanding of the benefits of its rich diversity and engaging it as a critical partner in the education of our children.
  6. Create a learning environment that actively nurtures and engages students’ creativity, critical thought and intellectual curiosity.
  7. Model, integrate, recognize, reinforce and develop means to assess the character traits of responsibility, respect, fairness, caring, citizenship and trustworthiness throughout the district.

112 Education Foundations Specific Three Year Plan: Goals, Strategies, and Proposed Tactics are listed below.  The tactics are not comprehensive of all proposed or expected Foundation activity, but a representation of current plans currently staffed and proposed plans that require resource allocation (staff and/or funding). Note: Italic font represents proposed plans not currently approved and/or resourced.

 

The 112 Education Foundation priority goals for the next three years beginning with the 2012/2013 Foundation calendar year,  align with the delivery our mission to enrich and enhance educational opportunities for all children in North Shore School District 112.  They also align with the District’s strategic goals of inspiring students and supporting them towards their goal of personal academic excellence and personal character development.

 

Goal Strategy Tactics
Advancing D112’s development of the “Classroom of the 21st Century”
  1. Continue to invest in leading edge technologies used in innovative ways to advance academic excellence in subject initiatives
  2. Support interdisciplinary programming that advances Districts  goal to create a learning environment that actively nurtures and engages students’ creativity, critical thought and intellectual curiosity
  3. Raise funds above current income levels to deliver goals
    1. Fulfill grant commitment for the middle school social studies classroom iPad program.
    2. Continue Foundation Grant investment in technology pilots to support, science, math, and literacy classroom projects.
    3. Continue Foundation Grant investment in interdisciplinary programming at the building(s) level.

    5. Continue to seek Sponsorships including those through PTA/PTO
    6. F.      Develop at least one new Foundation fundraiser to contribute annual revenue of $20,000.
Far-reaching exposure and student involvement in Fine Arts—Performing and Visual Arts 4. Continue to invest in the delivery of innovative Fine Arts education programs, including music, dance, choir, visual arts,  and theater arts5. Seek new and nurture existing Fine Arts partnerships

Increase community awareness of and mission understanding of 112 Education Foundation and its programming
  1. Utilize public relations and social media to communicate details of 112 programming
  2. Identify opportunities for participation in/sponsorship of D112 school and community-wide events
  3. Increase in-school presence with 112 Foundation logo material
  4. Measure progress against awareness improvement goals
    1. Write and submit articles about 112 Education to Trib Local, HP News, Patch and other relevant offline and online outlets
    2. Regularly update website and Facebook page content
    3. C.     Consider adding E-mail database capability to website to collect emails for outbound marketing
    4. Participate in and support mayor sponsored community partnership initiative
    5. E.      Sponsor/Implement storyteller evening community event
    6. F.      Consider Foundation Trustee representation at community wide diversity events (e.g. MLK day)
    7. G.     Develop and distribute 2012/2013 School Opening 112 Foundation items (e.g. note pads, grocery totes)
    8. Measure/track 112 Foundation awareness utilizing D112 survey capabilities
    9. Approach Highwood for Vehicle Sticker Program
    10. Develop School Orientation Video to be shows to parents around vehicle sticker upgrade and Fun(d) Run registration
    11. Establish Kindergarten parent presentations
    12. Include flyers in school registration packets
Recognize and reinforce the character traits of responsibility, respect, fairness, caring, citizenship and trust-worthiness through the district
  1. Provide funding and opportunities for student led service learning projects

    2. B.     Reinstitute recognition and reward  of student involvement in community service related projects
Insure fair and equitable distribution of enrichment and enhancement programming throughout D112.
  1. Provide enrichment and enhancement program funding and opportunities to specifically meet the needs of disadvantaged schools/students
  2. Continue to support Fund Run administration and implementation
  3. Continue Foundation grant investment in innovative diversity focused programming.
  4. Continue to provide Summer School scholarships
